At 4:15 AM in the morning of December 27, 2011 a fire was reported in a second-floor bedroom of 826 South 8th Street in South Camden, between Division Street and Spruce Street. The fire in this two-story middle of the row dwelling was quickly knocked down. Late that evening a fire was reported at 1620-B South 9th Street. A grease fire in a pan on a stove was made much worse when the resident poured water onto it, which only caused the fire to spread to the curtains. Residents chased out by fire in Camden
CAMDEN, N.J. - December 27, 2011 (WPVI) -- Seven people have been displaced by an early morning fire in Camden. The blaze broke out around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of South 8th Street. Fire crews were able to rescue the occupants, including three children, from the upper floor of the house. They were evaluated for any injuries. It took about a half hour to get the fire under control. The Camden County Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the seven displaced residents. They have been set up in a motel for the next few nights and given vouchers for food and clothing. |
