Woman Gas Victim Saved by Camden Rescue Squad The hour-long effort of a fire department rescue squad Friday night saved a woman who tried to kill herself by gas. Police said Mrs. Florence Marshall, 46, of 330 North Tenth Street, locked herself in the bathroom and turned on a gas jet. They added she was despondent because her daughter, Eva, 22, was planning to marry and leave home. A son, William, 19, broke down the bathroom door and dragged the mother from the room. Patrolmen John Voll and Harrison Wilkinson were called and summoned the rescue squad headed by Captains Godfrey Patterson and George Boone. It took the squad an hour to revive Mrs. Marshall by artificial respiration. She was taken to Cooper hospital and later to police headquarters, where she was released for a hearing Monday on a charge of attempted suicide. WOMAN'S YELLS SCARE 2 BANDITS FROM STORE Two unmasked young bandits last night attempted to hold up a downtown grocery store, but fled when the wife of the proprietor let out a few lusty screams. Mrs. Mary Marchlik was in her husband's grocery store at 1466 South Tenth street, shortly before 10 p. m., when two men, each about 19 years old, walked in. "This is a stickup," snarled one of the bandits as each leveled a revolver at the woman. She screamed and the youths fled. Joseph Marchlik, the husband, was asleep in the dining room. LICENSE OF DRIVER FREED, IS REVOKED South Camden Man Cleared of Tipsy Charge to Again Permit A South Camden man, convicted in police court of drunken driving, but acquitted on his appeal to Judge Samuel Shay, will seek reinstatement of his driver's license which was revoked officially today by Motor Vehicle Commissioner Harold G. Hoffman. The man, Sylvester Tazcinski, 1477 South Tenth Street, was arrested April 28 by Motorcycle Policemen Edward Shapiro and Thomas Kauffman after Tazcinski's car is alleged to have sideswiped Kauffman's motorcycle. They followed the car to Tazcinski's house where they found it parked. The policemen told Judge Shay on Tuesday they were unable to testify Tazcinski was driving and the judge released the defendant after saying he was convinced Tazcinski was drunk. William Mazzare. 922 South Fifth Street, arrested April 16 after his automobile crashed into parked cars at Mt. Ephraim and Kaighn Avenues also was deprived of his license. Mazzare was fined $220 by Police Judge Pancoast on April 17. Edward T. Cheeseman, Ashland road, Magnolia, arrested April 17 after a chase of more than two miles, also lost his license.
